TCM Chapter Goes to Washington with Mr. Smith

L to R: Lora, Caroline, Janine, Chris, Kami

Today the Raleigh/Cary TCM Backlot Chapter a.k.a. @TCMBacklotRDU met up to see Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939). After the film we had “cawfee talk” at an outdoor table in the beautiful, cool Fall air.

It may just be me, but I think we all felt a little more American after the movie.

“I will not yield!”

There’s just something about that Frank Capra Washington, DC montage that makes you want to put your hand on your heart and say the pledge of allegiance. Liberty, unity and the goodness in people – Jimmy Stewart makes you a believer with all his “aw shucks earnestness” that justice will prevail. In the end, your faith is restored.

Leaving the theater, I felt just a little better about the country we live in and the power of good people with good intentions to do their best to do the right thing. Thank you Mr. Smith.

I felt the same way! We need more “feel good” movies like this one in today’s world. Wish Frank Capra was still making movies!
