Must-Watch Short Film — Nicholas Brothers: Stormy Weather
Every fan of dance in classic film is familiar with Fayard and Harold Nicholas and the Nicholas Brothers act. Between the 1930s and 1950s the Nicholas Brothers appeared in 30 films, mostly as a specialty act. Considered the greatest tap dancers of their day, it not all time, their performance to Cab Calloway and His Orchestra’s rendition of “Jumpin’ Jive” in Stormy Weather (1943) is the greatest dance routine ever captured on film. The 2022 short subject film Nicholas Brothers: Stormy Weather examines that iconic performance through the lens of its impact on the history of film, dance, and Black performers.
