Join Academy Award-winning cinematographer Sir Roger Deakins for a BYWAYS book signing and Q&A reception on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the Mecklenburg Country Club in Chase City, VA.
BOOK SIGNING: 12-4pm
Q&A RECEPTION: 5-7pm (with Roger and his wife and collaborator, James, moderated by Beverly Wood, friend film industry colleague who collaborated with them for over 30 years on various film projects)
Roger Deakins’ book, BYWAYS is a collection of previously unpublished personal black-and-white stills that reflect a life spent looking and telling stories through images, from 1971 to the present. After graduating from college, Roger spent a year photographing life in rural North Devon on a commission for the Beaford Arts Centre; these images attest to a keenly ironic English sensibility, and also serve as a record of a time and place of vanished post-war Britain.
There are three ticket options for the event:
* ALL-ACCESS: $80 (Includes an autographed copy of BYWAYS (valued at $55) and entry to the Q&A reception: $25)
* PRE-ORDER BYWAYS book ONLY: $55
* Q&A reception ONLY: $25 (5-7pm)
If you already have a copy of Roger’s book, you can attend the book signing to have it autographed.
At the event, attendees can purchase raffle tickets to win an opportunity to enjoy brunch at a local restaurant with Roger and James Deakins and Beverly Wood Beverly Wood, former Executive VP at Deluxe and Managing Director at eFilm who is currently leading efforts to restore the Mecca Theatre.
Event proceeds will benefit Save Our Heritage, a nonprofit organization focused on historic preservation working to restore the Mecca Theatre in Chase City, VA. Event sponsors include United Talent Agency, Virginia Film Commission, Cooper’s Inn, and Save Our Heritage, Inc.
