Classic Couple

On Saturday, July 27 the Raleigh/Cary TCM Backlot Chapter hosted a Chapter social gathering at Vic’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria. Eighteen Chapter members and significant others enjoyed delicious food along with some friendly competition in a TCM trivia contest.

Two copies of the book TCM Classic Movie Trivia: Featuring More Than 4,000 Questions to Test Your Trivia Smarts provided source material for the pub-style quiz. Chapter President Chris and Chapter “First Lady” Kami carefully-selected questions from the book to create the event structure. They took three teams through five quizzes ranging in length from 5-15 questions each. Topics included the careers of classic films stars like Esther Williams, Marlon Brando and Elizabeth Taylor as questions related to film genres like romance and musicals.

Three teams of five – The Jezebelles, The Wild Bunch and The Voyagers – competed in the classic movie trivia quizzes. The day had only winners.

But, in the final tally of correct answers, The Voyagers had the most correct answers and The Jezebelles and The Wild Bunch tied.

Everyone’s knowledge of classic movies was tested and both cheers for right answers and groans for the wrong could be heard throughout the afternoon.

Door prizes were awarded after four of the quizzes, with winners randomly selected from tickets given out at arrival. The winners loved taking home some TCM-related swag.

We have a feeling a request for a re-match will be coming soon. In all, a really fun day for the Raleigh/Cary TCM Backlot Chapter!
