Classic Couple Academy

As we celebrate two years as the Classic Couple, we’re thrilled to announce a new offering: Classic Couple Academy.

Classic Couple Academy is dedicated to exploring classic film history, academy style. It’s an online community, where fans of classic movies can learn together and discover the magic of film-making behind the scenes and in front of the camera.

The academy is open to all classic film lovers. There are no fees, no grades, and no lectures. It exists as a place for shared discovery about film. Each “student” engages with the content on their own time.

Kami is lead curriculum developer for Classic Couple Academy. She is passionate about classic movies and film history and loves sharing that passion with others. Kami provides the “hers” perspective in all Classic Couple offerings.Her classic movie musings appear from time to time on sites dedicated to enhancing access to and sharing knowledge about film.

Chris Chase is headmaster of Classic Couple Academy. He provides the “his” perspectives in all things Classic Couple. Currently he is President of the Triangle Classic Movie Club – TCMC. Previously, Chris was President of the Raleigh/Cary TCM Backlot Chapter. A technical wizard, Chris keeps the ClassicCoupleAcademy.com and ClassicCouple.com up and running.

We invite you to join us in the Classic Couple Academy experience.

Our first offering is a 14-week exploration of Women Make Film: A New Road Movie Through Cinema airing on TCM September 1-December 1, 2020.

Kami Spangenberg is one-half of Classic Couple. She loves classic movies and shares that passion with others as a film blogger and as lead curriculum developer at Classic Couple Academy. While it's hard to play favorites, films topping her all-time, must-see list are: It Happened One Night, Ball of Fire, His Girl Friday, Libeled Lady, My Sister Eileen, The Philadelphia Story, The Thin Man, The Shop Around the Corner and The Way We Were. Oh, and The Outlaw Josey Wales. She has attended the TCM Classic Film Festival six times in LA as well as the 2020 TCM Festival Special Home Edition from her couch.
